Today I opened the tap and found the water quality not problematic, but a disgrace and a shameful disregard for human safety.
We wrote a letter to Victoria de Beer on 20 Feb 2024 to inquire about pressing issues and gave her time till today to respond to our questions. Is this the reply she is sending us?
Must we take the dirty water in our taps as her response to the pressing questions with regards to the health and safety officer that does not exist in Ngwathe?
We will be taking the matter further and raise our concerns with COGTA. We will be sending a sample to be tested and we will publish the results.
Why have there been no boil notice from the municipality is the quality of the water is suitable for human consumption?
We urge residents to boil the water before making use of it and send us photos or videos of the water quality at your homes.
This is a human rights violation and we cannot sit back and just accept it.
